When Melanie and Jim – two London children, aged 11 and 10 – are transported to a mountainous world that appears to be part of their favourite video game ‘The Lake Forest’, they meet a fiery local leader, Maeve, whose people have been driven from their homes.

A violent settler, Aran, has seized their land, poisoned their sacred forest and driven them to live on boats in a makeshift city.

He threatens a final attack that will wipe out Maeve’s people. Guided by dreams and undergoing trials of bravery, Melanie and Jim lead a daring mission through the heart of the mountain to a high valley and a majestic herd of deer as they try to help Maeve and her people regain their traditional forest home.
